Judge Lori Jupiter

Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans

In 2020 Judge Lori Jupiter was elected to the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans and currently resides over civil matters having graduated from the domestic docket.

​

Lori is a graduate of Xavier University and Loyola School of Law. Lori is a 23-year member of the Louisiana Bar Association. Lori began her legal career as a practicing attorney for Southeast Louisiana Legal Serviced in Hammond, Louisiana. In 2001 she moved to the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal and spent seventeen years as a Research Attorney while raising her children. In 2018 Lori accepted the position of Research Attorney for the Honorable Chief Justice Bernette Johnson of the Louisiana Supreme Court and from there was successfully elected by the citizens of New Orleans.

Lori met her husband of twenty-eight years, Jerome Jupiter, while attending Xavier University. Lori and Jerome have five children ranging from 15 to 28 years of age and are expecting their first grandbaby in September.

Lori is also a certified doula and a certified yoga instructor. Having spent twenty years at Wild Lotus Yoga Studio, Lori teaches a weekly All Levels Flow class. Lori served on Ochsner’s Women’s Wellness Committee at a time when her OBGYN and friend was building a clinic specializing in what women really need to be their healthiest. She also volunteered her time to help families in the COVID-19 crisis, working with Second Harvesters Food Bank distribution. Lori is also certified in Zen Buddhist Mediation.
